Searching “Amish country road signs” there are a wide variety of the yellow diamond, black border horse and buggy “share the road” signs, but the draft animals are clearly equine horses.

Is this book set near Three Mile Island?

You guys…it’s OBVIOUSLY a Steampunk novel set in Lancaster County, PA, and it’s a self-driving carriage, with a robotic Tapirwolf (credit: Monica, for such an apt description) providing the power.
