Posrein: I like the font, ALTHOUGH, I think it’s deployed poorly here. It should be a crapload larger, and the “by” should disappear. (Who-WHO–told newbie authors that they should put “by” or “written by” on the cover of novels? Is it just that none of them ever LOOK at a grown-up novel, put out by trade publishers? What the hell is up with that?)
I would probably have used a nice sans-serif or even a plainish Serif for that byline. AFTER nuking the “by.”
Not wild about the artwork, or one of the worst vignette effects I’ve ever seen (isn’t that a Photoshop action now????), but the font, at least, could have been salvaged.
I can only assume that the cosmic illiteracy that infects such a large portion of the general population has seeped into the publishing industry, as well. I mean, SURE. I get it. Harper Lee, and one of the most revered books of the last century.
I would submit that there’s a difference between “A Novel by” (since there is information conveyed by that — it’s not nonfiction, it’s not a book of short stories, it’s not marketed to a particular genre’s readers, etc.) and “Written by” (which adds no information that can’t be gleaned by the presence of the name on the cover).

Mother of God.

Still…bloody tacky.
I had to give up. It just never ends.
