All my gratitude for his service to the country, but this cover is just wrong. I mean what was he editing away from this pic that led him to lop off part of the head?
It seems there are a lot of veterans self-pubbing these writes that are undoubtedly cathartic and possibly help their fellow veterans cope by sharing their experiences. Makes me sad when the presentation suffers so.
Look closer. It’s a picture of a guy with his hands on his *forehead*, so we are seeing the top of his skull. The guy just pasted a face over the head.
OMG, you’re so right, Seven! The main pic is a guy with head bowed and hands clasped against his forehead. On top of that, over the guy’s hair, is the ghost face. Weird. Creepy. And why would someone do that to a pic?
So he’s got a bowed head and he’s…superimposed another HEAD on top of the head. Is he trying to be the movie version of Zaphod Beeblebrox?

That dude looks a teeny bit like Phil Collins (who if anyone has noticed has kind of a flat skull.) except this dudes cranium is WAY flatter. Also, I kinda doubt Phil Collins wears a beard made of stretched cotton balls.
The dude on the cover paid a steep price. A VERY steep price.

It took me a moment, but I think I’ve figured out this wacky image. The main figure has his head down, forehead pressed against his folded hands and then another face is super-imposed onto the hair. I shake my head at the levels of WTF in this. O—-o

The writer’s bio reads a bit like “spot the mistakes”-review question: ‘John M. Gunn wrote this book in his friends honor. Knowing that although he will not be able to serve his country in the military. He could serve the military, by opening his countries eyes. To the life our military and how they serve this great nation.’ Did you get the all?
Evidently he didn’t pay a price to any graphic designer.
Apparently the price was the top of his skull… 😉
I’m choking myself in the mirror. Everything is starting to get blurry… Life really sucks. So does this cover.
I wouldn’t pay ANY PRICE if I saw a cover like this one in the bookstore.
