I suppose that metal tortoise is important to the story but it means nothing to the casual browser,is it a cup or a shield or what?, and the purpose of a cover is to catch the eye of the casual browser. Try rendering the cover without it and see if it works better.
This is actually the iconic statue of Saint Wenceslaus which can be found in Prague. Being Czech myself, I’m slightly annoyed that some moron is using it for his book cover.
Shouldn’t it be titled “Statues of Al-Bara”? I only see a boring statute and no shadows. As for the red tinting… just take it away.
