Why is there a semi-transparent, um, something over the monkey? (Yes, I know, so many more interesting questions to ask, like, why is there monkey? Or why the byline isn’t centered? WTH is she looking at? WTH am I looking at? And the biggest question of all: why?)

Is there something NSFW going on with the monkey and her hand?

WHY did you have to put that image into my head? But that would explain the look on her face.

And the hugely erect nipple, if that’s what that is.

It’s not, it’s the beaker thing behind her, but it’s awfuly (in)conveniently placed. And now I have that in my head too.

I have an unnatural hatred for cheaply rendered images.

I also dislike blue people due to a mentally scarring incident with Blue Meanies.

Oh, there’s an interesting review quoted in the ‘Editorial Reviews’ section that starts like this:

Cover art usually isn’t mentioned in the course of a book review because (let’s face it) most are fairly unremarkable. But the blue-faced, red-clad, white-haired, face-tattooed alien figure on the cover of The Moreva of Astoreth provides an unusually compelling visual that invites potential readers to dive in just to find out more about her world.

Riiiiight.

I’m not diving in without a Hazmat suit.

I haven’t peeked inside, but from the reviews it doesn’t look that bad. It doesn’t look good enough that I’d want to read it, but at least the reviews are genuine reviews from review bloggers who got a free copy from the author. As opposed to fishy all five-star reviews some of the other LBC books have.

I must fight the urge to pull this into Paint and give Blue Lady a Progressive Flo make-over.

In my opinion, this is by far the pinnacle of the pseudohuman trend.
