And the fact that the book is listed under “Adventure” and “Thriller and Suspense”. There’s nothing suspenseful about this cover. Not a hint of genre or what the story could be about.

Man, those young fir trees are really bad at hide-and-go-seek.

Are young fir trees going rogue in the old pine forests of America? Just when you think it’s safe to go on a walk in the woods….
Ordinary pines are bad enough. They shed needles everywhere that can’t be vacuumed if you track them inside, clog up the roof gutters, kill the lawn, and their roots are very shallow, grow well past the drip line, and like to invade flower beds. Don’t ever plant one in your yard.

Sometimes same title is accidental (there are just so many two or three word combos before you start repeating). Then there’s parody or satire. Then there’s the secret hope people looking for that other book will buy yours instead.[/serious]
To me the purpose of a book cover is to stop the browser, have him pick up your book because it is of the genre he enjoys and then intrigue him enough to make him or her say, “I want to read this book.” This cover, although pretty, does none of those things. I have no idea if this is a mystery or a nature book a book of poetry.
Going Rouge: The untold backstory of Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree.
Isn’t this Sarah Palin’s book title?
Bigfoot!
So the only problem is the font?
The problem is that it’s boring.
The not-quite-centering doesn’t help, either.

Is there anything more terrifying than feral pines?

You guys just don’t recognize a riot when you see one. I think this is a photo of the famous Charlesmith Union Tree Riots of ’84.
You remember – the one Rush wrote a folksong about:
But I still don’t know what it has to do with Sarah Palin.
Except that these are all pine trees.
Sorry.
No you’re not.
No, really, I am. You were clever, and I was a jerk.
But I still don’t know what it has to do with Sarah Palin.

Girl On A Train is a great example of the latter. Unfortunately, the details escape my rust-bucket of a brain-pan.

These days I connect “rogue” with Hillary E-mailin’.
It looks like a book of poetry, what with the scenery and font.
