The only explanation is clearly that the letters are living creatures that the LEGO-man has just nailed to the wall out of pure cruelty. Judging by the stains of blue and yellow next to the crime scene, he id already done with A, B and C, but it is only reasonably to assume he has the whole alphabet imprisoned to torture away in his basement.
