This photo is giving me a headache. I think it is the weirdly-stretched alley behind the face — the lighter parts of the building are drawing my eyes towards the walls.
Oh, yeah, and stealing images isn’t cool either.

Hello!
So, I actually work at Smashwords! It’s my job to vet these books, finding errors, etc. I had seen this book and actually rejected it because of the copyright violation and if you go to the page, you will see the cover has been changed, it was actually changed almost 2 weeks ago.
Glad you enjoy the site, AJ! I sometimes troll the newest releases on Smashwords for fodder, so I probably saw this one even before you did. (I’ve got about a three-week backlog on covers.)
Well, it’s very possible, we receive over 1000 books a day, and I usually can make it through only about 200-250 personally a day.
I just wanted to make sure people didn’t get the impression that we allow anything that could be of legal trouble on the site to persist. We try to pride ourselves on letting every author create their own book however they feel it should be. Now, many of us might think that certain art choices for covers are.. shall we say not the best; but it’s one of our tenets that the authors make all the calls on their books with us. At Smashwords it’s “Your e-book, your way.”
It’s a somewhat obsolete use for the word, but “troll” can basically mean the same thing as trawl. Cross-reference the line “Troll the ancient Yuletide carol” from Deck the Halls, the ancient Yuletide carol that some Christmas carolers still troll up and down the streets of their town.

Case of the Purloined Sherlock?
(Why do some people think squished aspect is “transformative” enough to qualify as fair use?)

Well, he can always blame his schizophrenia if he gets in any real legal trouble. “My imaginary friend made me do it.” Considering how often he refers to himself in third person, I imagine his imaginary friend is also writing some of the text for him.
Really? REALLY? You couldn’t spend thirty seconds making sure this was all legit?
Damned is the man who brings down the wrath of the BBC legal department.
I don’t know what’s worse – the blatantly pirated image or the aspect ratio hack-job on Benedict. Either way, RIP, Travis.
Just noticed a new cover on SW. Looks like mission accomplished for the BBC attack ninja attorneys.
Good! Benedict deserves better than this!!!

I want to say I love this site and it has provided many of us with much needed catharsis.
Thanks,
AJ

“Trawl”, not “troll”, surely?
