This seems to be a fantasy novel aimed at children. Nothing enchants children like a closeup of an wrought iron grate.

The phillips screwhead just adds to the fantasy enchantment. Phillips head screw was introduced in the days of yore lore, ca 1930.
The reviews on Amazon.co.uk say that the story involves time travel. Not that the screw was the cover’s biggest problem…
