Neither the title, cover, nor Amazon description make me want to read this book. Then again, I must clearly not be its target audience. That leaves me with a big question, though: What audience is this book intended for?

This cover gives me the heebie-jeebies. At first glace Betsy looks like a very young girl wearing nothing (which is creepy). But is she really an older girl washed through a bad filter? Either way, I feel like reporting this to a pedophile hotline.

From the description at the link, that’s indeed a naked little girl (the story being about a girl with a strange allergy that keeps her from wearing any clothes); probably about two years old. It’s pretty much legal to snap pictures of kids that age nude as long as it’s pretty obviously not for lascivious purposes, so I wouldn’t go alerting the authorities about this if I were you. They might actually start making trouble for you for making a frivolous complaint!

Of course, none of this legal mumbo jumbo prevents this sketch from being poor quality. “Art for a refrigerator” might be an appropriate tag in addition to the “MS Paint reborn!” tag it’s got already.

This book appears to be in the genre of advocacy for nudism or naturalism and not intended to be erotic. There is a lot of questionable eroticism with lousy book covers, but I don’t think this is one.

Considering that making nude images of girls under 18 is a felony offense, I suppose it would be impossible to legally make The Sheltered Life of Betsy Parker into a movie. Unless the filmmaker wanting to make this book into a movie, went to court, and legally won a court order that making this book into a movie would be art, and not constitute child pornography.
