OMG that’s hilarious. XD You’re right, that couldn’t be the face of anything but sheer trauma.

Here we are again with two seemingly unrelated logo things. Badges? Awards? I have no idea. But I like the title, or at least what seems to be the concept. Return of the rats. The miracle of the carp. For some reason those phrases amuse me.
I think those are logos for the book series and publisher. Book series or publisher logos are acceptable.
I do loath when covers have paid-for badges or seals for some phony awards (Grandmaster award from caged critics held on a Mid-Atlantic book reviewer slave ship — soon to be subject of a Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders episode, I hope).
But are they acceptable if they distract and confuse the potential reader? The style and size of them, plus the fact that there are two, one at each end, just don’t work for me.

Mau-ow…is that a foreign interpretation of what a cat sounds like?
Like: ri-ka-ki-ki-ki is somewhat spanglish for how a rooster sounds.

Three cats of five cats ignore the rat. Two seem to be paying attention.
This book contains three stories: Mau-ow
Return of the Rats
The Miracle of the Carp
The real mystery is where’s the carp? Why have only two of three subjects pictured on the cover?
I know, after The Erect Oak, I was afraid to follow links, but sometimes it explains (or deepens) the mystery behind these covers.
I particularly like the middle cat, leaning at a jaunty angle with his paw held as if he’s saying “Oh, you guys..!”
Blue-eyed cat can has flashback of bath time with Nana.

Of course I transposed two letters in that last word of the title. It’s much better that way.
