Maybe the seventh person is Jack Adler (named) plus the six persons pictured.

There’s actually 43 Californian individuals and groups in the book (e.g. William Randolph Hearst, Black Panthers, et al.)

Who’s the woman? The only women with chapters are Lola Montez and Isadora Duncan (who is listed in the ToC as Isidora Duncan: if they didn’t proofread the table of contents, what does that imply about the rest of the book?).
