I think some are doing that just to denote length, as most people don’t look at the length of an ebook. I did it with mine (though I used novella because it’s not novel length), for that reason.
At any rate, it bothers me when I see it on real paper books, and I see it often enough. Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn’t that be included in the description perhaps? It does seem rather pretentious, I’ve always thought so as well. Ok, so this book is a novel…as opposed to what exactly? Because you can generally tell that’s what it is.

Was that supposed to be “Endtime”? …and why do neophytes feel the need to say “a novel”? It’s pretentious when NYT authors do it.
