“I know, I’ll put a photo of a boy who’s looking at something gruesome off-screen. Only, the reader can’t tell the boy is looking at something gruesome off-screen, so I’ll put a whole lot of text that suggests that the boy might be looking at something gruesome off-screen.”
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but when the picture doesn’t say what you need it to say, just write those thousand words right across the picture.

You would think that the kid would not stick his right hand through the bars at the zoo considering what happened last time to his left hand.
