Y’know, I think that the two distinguishable (sorta) things on the cover are intended to be the remains of a broken crucifix–Jesus there on the left, and the cross on the right. BUT, unfortunately, mostly, it looks more like a guy going off the Olympic High Dive, in a double-back dive…and a honking big thingy made of wood on the right. It’s just flipping weird.

I think you’re right about the crucifix – Perhaps it’s boiling in a toxic radioactive spill of some sort that affects cheap metal, but not wood.
