Mossey Creek is an actual creek near Kamloops, British Columbia. The story could be about the bridge over that specific creek.
However, as the author is from Tennessee, I doubt they know about it.
Goosle is likely Goose given its giblet proximity.

Hands are hard to draw, but you don’t often find backwards hands on things besides Dungeon & Dragon’s Rakshasas!

I find that head to be very pear shaped, furthermore did someone just smack this person one, those cheeks are quite red.

That book was published in 1970 – 44 years ago. I wouldn’t call it a relevant example for today’s market.
