I am getting a creepy vibe too, and I am a 37-year-old woman with a not-particularly-dirty mind. (An older adolescent or adult male coaching little girls in pillow fighting is just creepy. Especially with that look on his face.)

I had to overcome a strong urge to call the police when I first saw this cover. Yikes!

Which way is that guy’s body even supposed to be facing?

That’s the thing that stands out to me. I thought his head was on backwards at first.

There are other books in this series using the same pose. I can tell you, after seeing this without a pillow that… I still don’t know how his body works.

OK, youse guys. Now, I recently got in trouble over the fact that I thought that something had a creepy vibe; but this one? You’re crazy. Do I think that typically, Mom handles pillow fights and sleep-overs? Sure, but what does a widower do? He has sleepovers for his wee lass.

HOWEVER, damn! Yes, that dude’s head is absolutely on backwards. It’s a shame, because otherwise, I don’t really hate this cover. I like it, mostly. Nor do I think it has a big creep factor. BUT, publisher, you need to get that deformity FIXED. I have no idea what happened (some sort of Wiley Coyote accident, no doubt),but he needs to get his head screwed on straight, in the right direction. Ha!

Also like that font, albeit, maybe not for the title. I forget what it’s called, but I’ve used it for middle-school fiction chapter heads for our clients. Works nicely.

I am getting a kind of creep vibe, but not the “pervert” kind so much as the “Once they’re down for the night, I’m gonna smother ’em both with this pillow and sacrifice them to Satan!” kind.

Is that really a creep vibe?

Well, it certainly makes my flesh crawl to think of that; it’s more of a “Linda Blair” than “Clare Quilty” kind of creep vibe.
