Probably Second or Special Edition (bur SE is also an abbrev for Sweden, southeast, Societas Europaean, and secondary electron). I suspect most book folks would use “2nd Ed.” if it were second edition.
DED, I think you are right. You have outdone me with your imagination. That said, the artwork fails unless everyone has their own in-house DED to offer cover interpretation 🙂
SE?

SE- sports edition. Look at the pin-stripping on that Pegasus-Unicorn.
Where is that horn attached? It misses the beasts forehead. It might be growing out of the right eye socket.
The horn also has a disturbing bend to it and split-ends. Do they make horn shampoo that helps repair the damage?
I believe that’s the other wing and that the author intended this to be a pegasus.

Yeah, what appears to be a horn is just a feather of the pegasus’ right wing. No political joke intended.
(If you can not afford your own personal DED in-house, view the cover at 1357×2005 pixels and it is clearer. Iz poor and must make do.)
I keep expecting a TriStar Picture to begin.
It’s okay Pegasus, you can fly! Use your magical wings and FLY over the purple wall!
