Those dark clouds look a little threatening, I suppose.

Off-topic: Someone went off on me on Facebook, saying I was always “posting negative comments about people’s book covers” – which I never do! I deleted the rant, but wondered why make that accusation?

Then it hit me: THIS is where any comments are (appropriately) made, so the guy is lurking here. Because his covers have been here.

Not that bad of a cover…

…for a non-fiction reference guide to plants or something.

Wow, this book is obviously erotica. How did Amazon ever allow a cover like this to get by?

…and can anyone (ahem, Nathan?) tell me why on earth I’m seeing Dunkin’ Donuts commercials on this site, in SPANISH? While I can whack about in Spanish a bit, it’s not my cradle language, and absolutely NADA in my browsing history should be telling the adserver that it’s appropriate content. (The coffee and donuts, yes–the Spanish, no.)

Don’t question the Internet! It knows what you need better than you do. Mere humans cannot fathom it’s silicon wisdom.

I would like to second this sentiment. Our silicon & fiber-optic overlords know what’s best for us – often before we do.

Yup, that’s me. Worse, yesterday, I think I got an AARP ad in Spanish. It’s pure hell–now I’m an OLD Anti-Spanish-donut-bigot. 🙂

I am a long time member at another site where the admins decided to run ads to help pay the costs of running the site. A lot of posters started complaining about the ads. Then someone posted: [snark]Hey, folks, why don’t we start sending funds to the site so they can afford to run it without ads![/snark] Posters started saying, well, the ads aren’t that intrusive after all.

What costs? Running a website is $100/year (even free if you pick something up from WordPress, Blogger, et al). If you’re paying more than that, you’re getting ripped off. If you can’t afford $100/year, you’ve got bigger problems to worry about than running a website.

If there are any costs, it’s to pay the people who want to make a living creating the content that’s hosted on websites. And I don’t begrudge people at all for wanting to do that (I’d love to do that!). But people need to be honest about what those ads are paying for: their time.

Oh, I’m getting advanced healthcare and printing and graphic services ads (I am retired from a book press after 34 years). May be coincidinx.

I can see the tyranny and the wrath oozing from this design.

No, it was supposed to be “Tyrant’s Roth,” as in IRA. Dang British copyeditor!
