To pick the most charitable possible interpretation maybe he meant “novel” as in “new.”
The title on the cover looks like Ra Novel Romance Novel to me.

Good catch. Makes me believe the title should be read as “a novel Romance Novel” rather than my first decode of the cover as “Romance Novel: a novel”.
