Ugh.
There’s a war going on alright. A war between the Text and the Pictures over space on this cover.
Almost looks like the cover is asking if the American Civil War was fact or fiction.
A whole book about Jeff Daniels’ acting in one movie? Hmmm.
What upset me the most about that movie was the idiosyncratic appearance of a canteen clearly manufactured in 1883 at a battle that occurred in 1863 – you can clearly see it being used by the third guy to the left of Daniels in that one scene.
AND a horse that was obviously manufactured in 1989!
Who would have the energy to read this book after reading that title?
This is obviously somebody’s PhD thesis published as a book, which isn’t particularly unusual. The fact that it’s credited to an institution instead of to its author is *very* unusual, so I did a little googling. It turns out that this is a (almost definitely unofficial) repackaging of this publication:

Since it’s in the public domain, this is perfectly legal. Why anybody would pay $14.95 for it is beyond me.
Whoops, it’s a Master’s thesis. Well, close enough, I guess.
