#PositiveReinforcementInitiative: I like the colours on this! It is bright and interesting.
I don’t think this book cover is lacking in imagination.
Change those fonts AR and this would look much better.

Because this is a coloring and activity book, and not a Regency romance (like covers of this sort usually are on this site), I think it works, too. I would look at making the title larger and changing its color to something that doesn’t clash with the purple background, and check out better fonts as Waffles suggested, although Comic Sans isn’t out of character here. The dog might look a little sillier and less like someone is letting the air out of it, and its outline connect stars like the constellations do.
Kudos to the author for making this a reasonably priced actual book.
Kirsten would be a suitable font….channels the essence of the dreaded Comic Sans, without being the actual Comic Sans (thank God).
I agree…change the red color on the font into something other than red, and it’s got possibilities. I am a bit iffy about the chewed-up planet. Other than that, I don’t think this one really rises to the high standard for LBCs, Nathan.
We ought to have Yet Another Badly Needed Website: The Nearly-Theres. Covers, like this one, that are nearly there, to which we can contribute our utterly unwanted, unsolicited, etc., collective wisdom. Sorta like the Jehovah’s Witnesses of Covers. Go around and proselytize. 😉 Ooooh, I got it….Proselytypers! That’s it. Proselytypers.com. For self-pubs that need help, but don’t ask for it. To save their publishing souls. Unlike CC.com (who ask), and unlike LBC (beyond salvation).
Just my $.02.

Like: the friendly little astronaut. Very inviting.
Dislike: the horribly deformed planet. Looks like Star Dog chewed it up.

OK, it’s a coloring book for kids. Not exactly a high bar. But at least it’s not a Cover By Crayola. Something to be said for that!

I’ve seen worse art. 🙂 But yeah, comic sans has to go.
A coloring book cover is actually the kind of use that Comic Sans was designed for.
