Does he have a Siamese Twin? Because it looks like there’s someone else behind them.

Everyone wants to nuzzle up to our pirate-lady, including the ship. Good thing she is blurry and compressed or her animal magnetism would reach out through the computer screen and suck all of us in too.

If you stretch the cover horizontally 250% it becomes obvious that’s her behind his head and her hand buried in his hair (he must use Brylcreem “The gals’ll all pursue ya; they’ll love to run their fingers through your hair!.”)

Who could ever think these squished or squashed messes make good book covers??

For the record I have bought ebooks in the past year, all with 1:1 aspect ratio covers. No. Crushed. Aspect. Covers. Ever!

I’m sorry if I brought you down (sometimes I feel bad when I realize I have burst an illusion). Although a Siamese twin pirate romance might make really good story. It’s not a crowded field.

Why do people think they can just ignore things like perspective and aspect/ratio and end up with a good cover?

Do they really think they are undiscovered Picassoes?

(DAMNIT – it really bugs me when I need a plural like that and don’t know the proper form to use. I think I will go with “Picassae!”)

As a creator of pirate-related fiction and art, I’m aghast.

The last time I admitted I was aghast, I was reminded of the description in H.P.Lovecraft’s “The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath”: “… ghasts, those repulsive beings which die in the light, and which live in the vaults of Zin and leap on long hind legs like kangaroos.”

(It is 4:44am my TZ … I blame insomnia.)

Wait a minute…bounty of HER heart, stealing a PIRATE’S heart…whose heart is the focus here? I’m confused.

It’s two hearts. Hers his bounty, his her stolen treasure. Both beating as one. *sigh*, I need a hankie. *honk*, tears make my nose run.

The skull in the lower right corner is just such a nifty “extra,” too.
