Hey, it makes perfect sense to me! At least if I rotate my left eye about 45 degrees upwards.

A note from the author.

Now now guys…

I realise my book cover deserved to be on here as it isn’t – shall we say – particularly good.

Though your website did make me smile.

However, a lot of time and effort went into writing the actual book, so I ask that the content is not to be judged by the cover.

A lot of authors don’t possess the ability for artwork (many can’t afford to employ another party to illustrate) and they write purely for the love of the story.

Rest assured that I am in the process of having a new cover designed that will be less offensive on the eye.

Though I fear this cover may be around to haunt me for some time.

It must be galling to see one’s book here, but a couple of things: What is a cover for, other than judging a book by it? Books don’t really need covers otherwise, other than a blank page saying “start here”. Maybe some sort of code to recognise which book it is in a pile of many. Cover really exists just to entice the reader to pick THAT book from a million others they could as well be reading.
As for money, have you maybe tried to ask students of graphic design? Otherwise, many people complain of not having money, while the same time wearing clothes and sometimes even driving cars. I don’t think a professional book cover design is that expensive, look around and see what in your house could be sold, offer dogwalking services or something. And good luck!

…Should it not be “An eye for a chameleon?” Or is it a name, Chameleon?

Hello again πŸ™‚

The Chameleon, is the name of a character in the story.

I have managed to raise funds for the new design, which is in progress now. I’m happy with the sketches I’ve seen so far.

Luckily, I didn’t have to sell any of my clothes or lose my neighbours dog πŸ˜‰

I think it was more of a wake up call to see the cover on here. The more I looked at it, the more I realised that I was jeopardising the actual content. So if anything, it’s pushed me to get a good cover designed.

I did try to find somebody that would do it on a shoestring budget, however I believe most of the time, you get what you pay for.

Thank you for wishing me luck, the readers opinion is very important to me.

I shall pop on here and leave a post when the new cover is online (unless somebody decides to post it on here in which case, you’ll all see it anyway)

Hi Guys,

I’m pleased to say the new cover is available on amazon now :)The title has been changed slightly and it’s now called ‘An Eye For Draco’

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eye-Draco-Planet-Yarn-ebook/dp/B00DH16LIY/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1371631614&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=halley+halford

…and the ebook is free for the next 5 days too πŸ˜‰

Thanks for pulling me up on this, I feel a lesser degree of shame with the new one (hopefully it won’t end up on here again) I visit this site on a regular basis now because it makes me chuckle.

Keep up the good work book cover police, you’re doing us self-published authors a favour (even though some can’t take the criticism) Let’s hope they don’t write comedy eh?
