I’d like to tell you all that my host has recovered from the server crash, and everything will be hunky-dory. Instead, I have to tell you that the server crash ate all of my sites whole, and I have to start over with a blank slate. At another host. Because Hostivia.com is never ever getting another dollar from me.
Lousy Book Covers is easier to restore than most of my other online ventures, because all of the content was mirrored at the tumblog. (Funny how it was just a few weeks ago that I was persuaded to move the main site from tumblr to private hosting because of greater control over the fate of the content. Irony! Irony is kicking me in the nards!)
Anyway. What I have lost is the 200+ covers scheduled to be posted in the future, but I still have a goodly assortment, so posting will recommence today. Meanwhile, I’ll be re-customizing the theme, re-adding links to the book’s descriptions, re-creating tags… Glorious fun, eh, what?
Here’s hoping your Friday is significantly superior to mine.
So I assume this means the B-Master’s Cabal site has also been eaten whole? Not to mention all of the Cold Fusion Media Empire? I can’t imagine trying to recover that many years of content and cross-linking. Good luck to you! So sorry this happened.
Yup — the B-Masters site and the entirety of the Cold Fusion Media Empire are kaput. Several people have pointed me toward archive.org and such to regain my movie reviews, but even if I do retrieve them, I probably won’t post them again. And a dozen years of blog posts…
Wow, sorry to hear about this, Nathan. Irony can be a real dick.
I’d tell you who I use but then Irony might come along and kill my webhost too.
GoDaddy.com
HORRIBLE commercials… GREAT service. Even at 8pm on a Saturday night.
Hey, isn’t there a archive site that archives snapshots of the entire web at different times? You may be able to reclaim your content (piecemeal) via one of those sites. Good luck!
