When I comment on bad art, I always feel a bit guilty, because I know that my own covers are nothing to write home about.
But when someone takes a beautiful piece of art and sticks the text right over the dragon’s face…no mercy from me.
(Speaking of which, should this get an “on the nose” tag?)
I usually reserve that for human (or pseudohuman) faces. Here the ENTIRE DAMNED DRAGON is obscured.
Is there a dragon in there?
Do people eyeball these covers before hitting the “publish” button?
“Tis I, Sir Reginald. Might this be the Castle Opaque?”
“This is Castle Trans. The one you seek lies in front of the mountain.”
