calling rusalki “Slavic mermaids” is like calling mermaids “English rusalki” where rusalki and mermaid are used in the most basic sense of “water spirit”

A children’s book might equate them (poor cover art either way) but a book for adults, even those new to Slavic mythology, shouldn’t, at least in my opinion. Which is free, and worth what you paid for it.

Looking at that cover, I presume the emphasis is on “ALKI”. As in, short for alcoholic. It certainly LOOKS like a case of the DTs.
