The Seasons of Elsewhen Volume 1: The Summer Apprentice & The Fall of Magic

I wonder about the process that led to deciding on this cover design. That doesn’t mean that I actually want to know.

Getting rid of the little rectangle on the edge would not make this a good cover. But it might improve it to merely amateurish, up from abysmal.

The ink/watercolour (?) illustration on the right does have a certain charm to it. In the right sort of picture book for young children, I think it could work. But not for something described as ‘epic’ and a ‘money-saving price’.

The ‘money saving price’ part works for me. Based on that cover, I ain’t gonna buy it.

My guess is he didn’t like whatever was on the left side of the main artwork, so covered it with a second commissioned pic of the main character. To abysmal effect, for sure.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Some beloved individual, who inspired some character, and who has since been banned from the author’s life, something like that.

my guess is, since it’s a two book collection, both covers are on slapped together.
