I’m not a very good judge of these things, but it seems to me that Melissa Snodgrass is trying a bit too hard. It’s apparently not enough to let people know that she wrote for Star Trek: TNG, not enough to let them know that she wrote “Measure of a Man,” we have to make sure that everyone knows that “Measure of a Man” is “famous” and “beloved.”
It seems to me that, if your audience knows what “Measure of a Man” is well enough that it might swing them to buy or not buy your book, they probably have their own opinions on the episode. Telling them what to think about it is just insulting.

Preternatural is so much improved, I initially mistook it for good. I think Guardian of Light got so much worse, while the others look more lateral moves.

Yup, Guardians of Light was the sucker punch I had in mind.
