Dear Knowledgeable Tour Guide:

I hate to tell ya, but VENICE is not, technically and not even really remotely, on the Mediterranean. Ask anybody. It’s on the VENETIAN LAGOON, which goes out to the Adriatic–NOT the Med.

URGH.

It looks like Istanbul is on the Sea of Marmara, which is between the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea. None of those would be the Mediterranean.

And, while I’m no expert on European geography, I’m pretty sure that Amsterdam is not on the Mediterranean either.

Looks to me like Knowledgable Tour Guide is batting .000.

You mean, like AMSTERDAM? I didn’t even mention Amsterdam, because I didn’t want to suck all the air out fo the room, but so far, they’re 0 for 3. ZERO FOR THREE, ff…

@Zsuzsa: Yes, exactly right–just saw your comment. Oh-4-Three. Sheesh.

The best way to travel by gondola from Venice to Amsterdam is on the Nile.

Honestly, I could dig that! Thence up to the Upper Kingdom to the former Lower Kingdom and thus to Cairo; go from there to Istanbul and then…the Orient Express! Squeeeeee.
