Actually, it means Fan Fiction. In this case, based on the description, it’s actually ripping off Romeo and Juliet while putting Darcy and Elizabeth in the title roles.

“A Pride and Prejudice Adaptation”….Must be the one with the zombies I’ve heard so much about.
“Adaptation” means it was plagiarised.
I think that telling us up front that it’s based on Jane Austen dismisses the “fraudulent” part of the definition of “plagiarism.”
