I don’t think you meant it like, “Ooooohhhhhh… public domain,” like it’s the only explanation for this, but that’s how how I read it.

The world does not need Fifty Shades of fanfic.

I sometimes forget that “Fifty Shades of Grey” started as a “Twilight” fanfic that the author turned to a commercial work in violation of the rules of the fanfic universe. And that Steele and Grey violated the rules of the BDSM universe. And that there is “Fifty Shades of Grey” fanfic.

I was lucky to have a memory blank of my near fatal car wreck. I was told the mind protects itself from great horror that way. Why can’t I be spared from remembering these other horrors?

Oh, yes. Law & Order, specifically, Criminal Intent, has a world of apologies due to the universe, in the annals of “shipping” and fanfic, which have almost near-inevitably resulted in this sort of dreck.

This appears to be a reprint of Harry Houdini’s book on escapology. While of interest to fans of Houdini and his work, it’s of little use to anyone hoping to escape from modern handcuffs.

His technique of filling his lungs before being tied/chained/straitjacketed/etc. is still pretty sound, though! Exhale, and the bonds are not as tight, allowing for some wiggle room.
