Is this one of those areas in which the author thinks, “well, I’ll under-promise and over-deliver?” Note to the author–that only works if you can get them to buy the book first, brother or sister. With this cover, you’re not going to get to Step 2.

Looks like the logo for a fancy prep school. I can imagine it sewn onto the breast pocket of a school blazer.
I’m not a fan of fantasy books that just have an object on their cover (the works of Joe Abercrombie are good examples)
But this seems both boring and lazy
If you look through foggy lenses, I guess it could be mistaken for the Eye of Sauron. Best I can do with this.
