“The Cause of Darkness” is now at least book-shaped. But could they have come any closer to copying the cover from Ken Burns’ “The Civil War” DVD?

And that lesson is, if you make your first draft horrible enough, you can put out something that’s merely bad and wow everyone with your incredible improvement?

Or is it, people can improve and change, but only about 1 in 10 of them?
