Oh dear.

Janeen Abdo, baby, I think you need to have a word with whoever put that book cover up on Amazon on your behalf; obviously, some kind of incompatibility error cropped up while transporting the cover image (and captioning) between systems.

Looks like it got teleported with another photo through the machine from “The Fly”.

Noooo, guys, don’t you recognize that old cover template thing, from Cover Creator? Back in the Createspace Day, for eBooks, etc.?

Someone obviously didn’t understand how anything works and slapped the mostly-finished cover into Cover Creator, rather than simply directly uploading it and used that “filter” template. Worse, they also somehow converted the end of the two lines of text into the invisible formatting codes, so you get those rectangles. Man…if I were that artist, who did the work, I’d be right pissed. But that sucker’s been up there for years now, right? At least…5 years now, I think?

The preacher cover is much improved. It just goes to show what the right text and font can fo for a cover

Some of these are, indeed, vastly improved, altho that doesn’t mean that they rise to “good.”

  • For example, as @Ian mentions, below, Preacher is much better, but still, not good. That new cover font makes my eyes bleed, in the readability contest.
  • Plasticity Island is significantly improved and has a professional/commercial varnish to it, so well done there–but s**t, I still don’t know what genre it’s in.
  • The K9 Police Hero book, ditto–but it’s still too damn busy. (I also think it’s wise to focus on what’s different about her series–not Just Another Police Procedural, but hey, there’s a fantastic heroic dog here, too!
  • Why does the poor woman on Save Your Life have rocks in her uterus and baby-making structures, eh? Can I seriously be the only person who ever looked at this cover and said “ehhhh, do you know that looks like a uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries, never mind the girlie treasure trail?”

Nathan, dear, I used the bulleted list doodad again. If my bullets keep gettin’ et, I may get cranky. Okay, crank-IER, have it your way.

I’d suggest making your own, but even powders and primers are hard to come by.

Agreed. We’ve had trouble getting everything for quite a while now.
