Is that…is that a fetus, trapped inside a glowy bubble there, at the end of what I presume is meant to be a mace????

And is it me, or have we seen this exact same cover, somewhere in time, with less distressing and blackening? Are there other books in this series?

I don’t know what you’re seeing there. I’m just seeing spikes.

No, no, inside the…glowy ball/bulb/whatever. Honest to crap, when you zoom it, I can almost see a squished little face in there. Take a look and see if you see it.

I see some spikes, I see a glow that might look like a crown, but I don’t see much else.

That doesn’t look like a curled-up fetus to you? the back of the head at around 1-2:00, an arm coming down from the head/shoulders area, with a bend at the elbow and a body on the left? Little feet, even?

No, but now this reminds me of the ending of “The Fly” – “Help me… HEEEELLLLP ME!” – which was very freaky and unsettling even to this day!

Which one? 1958 or 1986? David Hedison or Jeff Goldblum?

Definitely 1958 version! But I also loved the JG version, unsettling in other ways.
