Well, obliviously, the cover artist followed the epigraph of Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451”:

Apparent some people think drawings on ruled notebook paper are cute in covers for children’s stories or even young adult stories.

I was going to make a crack about it having obviously been constructed near the beach in Miami–but I suspect it’s too soon.
