Hey, it’s a National Indie Excellence Award Finalist, bud!

Sometimes, I feel these are vanity awards given out if the author pays for certain competition entries. Like the e-mails that go around and state award ceremonies and pricing. lol However, if it is truly a legit award, it sucks that the book would be marred with this cover.

I happen to know that yes, the NIEAs are mostly legit. Yes, there’s an entry fee. Yes, I’m sure a lotta lotta people enter. They have finalists and then they have winners. I don’t know enough about their internal processes to comment. I have several customers (out of 5,000+) that have won and I’ll say this about it–they are just as excited, when they win in their category, as Sally Field was. 🙂

However, there are many more of those awards that are simply sold so the author has a shiny sticker. It’s nice to hear at least a small handful exist with integrity.

Oh, ABSOLUTELY. I did not mean for an instant to imply otherwise. 99% of them are nothing more than faux badges. Hell, you might as well make up your own, given how many we see!

Vanity seals impress me as peacockery and immodesty.
They inspire me to not want the books that bear them.

Hey, I thought that a Bait and Switch was when they offered you something good then gave you something bad….not whatever this is.

It took a lot of looking to realise that no, that’s not her bare midriff, it’s an awkwardly held cardboard box.

And why are her arms not in her coat sleeves?
