There’s just… nothing there. It has no appeal. It’s got nothing to catch the interest. It’s a throwback to the pre-dust-cover book covers, which considered it gauche to use the book cover as some kind of (gasp) marketing tool.
Where does it take place? Your blurb needs a lot of work, but also only mentions Mars.
I wouldn;t use the term “minted” to describe a newly promoted Captain, and you don’t hyphenate when the leading adjective ends in “y”.
