What the high holy f**k is that? Is the RCM inside the Chrysalis, meant to be the author and is the female form inside the Chrysalis, meant to be the author post-transformation? Is that the gist here?
You know…it mighta had legs (so to speak) with commercial-quality illustration but with this, it feels heavy-handed, assuming that I’ve inferred the intent correctly.
Even then, expecting your prospective audience to get up close and personal with the cover (rather than at thumbnail) to discern the intent, the nature of the story, etc.–that’s a bit much to expect.
Assuming the cover had been done MUCH better, the human inside the chrysalis being feed by an external syringe could’ve actually been really creative symbology. But, alas.

I’ll just note that the listed genre of the book is “Mystery, thriller, and suspense.” There’s no indication that the target audience is eight-year-olds.
