There’s only one day left to vote in the second round of the first annual Lousies awards. Don’t let democracy pass you by!
In today’s installment of New Covers For Old 2021, there are waaay too many covers splitting the difference between “incremental change” and “doubling down.”
The Watcher: It’s rare that someone tries to do a Nagilum and fails. Failing at it twice seems like it’s got to be some kind of LBC record.
Appled: For anyone wondering, I clicked through and yes, that quarter-length picture of a flower is the entire cover. Apparently the author realized that the previous cover was no good, so just decided to give up on covers entirely.
Chaos—no significant improvement.
Dead Inside—pretty cool, really
Watcher—nope
Appled—appalled
Goodbye Heiko—just made it worse
Haunting—how many times has a decent enough image been shot in the foot by terrible typography?
Rogue Wolf—just wound up making it boring
Surreal—see note for “Haunting”—which I have to apply to the entire series since I’m not too sure which book was the original one listed
Horror—more of a leap back than a step
Nazi Terror—more things wrong than I could list here
“Goodbye Heiko”…man, Rowling has really started to lose it with her conspiracy theories and stylization these days.
Eh?
Reference to Rowling and her complete breakdown with the whole gender thing all over social media. As the cover has this gender mishmash, I got serious Rowling breakdown vibes from it. lol
Ah. I see. Thanks for the clarification.
