Only two more days before the first round of voting for the first annual Lousies awards closes!
In today’s installment of New Covers For Old 2021, there are only a couple of true improvements… and one real sucker-punch. If I had a conscience, I’d be sorry. Good thing I’m a remorseless monster.
What is that…thing on the new cover of Across the Wilderness? It looks like our passionate couple is being eaten by something out of the “Slimes, Oozes, and Jellies” chapter of D&D!
Turquoise—both covers are bad, just in completely different ways.
Edge of Revolt—well, at least it’s a little bit easier to read, there is that at any rate.
Bible—a bad cover gone worse.
Confession—an improvement but no cigar.
Wilderness—score: 0
Tiona—score: 0
Animal Future: a step backward, as hard to imagine as that might be.
Alouette—love the art (is that Chagall?), but it would seem to me to have no relevance to the book as described. Terrible typography, too.
Storyland—very much improvement even if the girl does appear to be completely disinterested.
Aram—this might actually have worked very well if it hadn’t been ruined by the terrible typography
The new “Urquoise” is my phavorite; and “Animal Future” is a grand step backwards, even via losing the Ragtime/Revue font alone.
