In a world over-saturated with superheroes, the superhero narrative has become all too familiar.
Time to change that.Super-0 does not feature chiseled abs nor strong role models, neither super villains nor superheroes. It features everyday people who are suddenly given not so everyday abilities.
How will they cope?
Yeah, that hasn’t been done before… except in the TV series Heroes in 2006… or maybe in George R.R. Martin’s Wild Cards anthology series beginning in 1987… or Marvel’s New Universe in 1986… or…
Wouldn’t that make those ordinary people now superhuman; and, in turn, superheroes or supervillians – depending on how they use their abilities?
…And Chronicle, and about 30 other movies or shows.
I tell you the version of that genre I liked: Temps (1991), curated by Alex Stewart and Neil Gaiman: short stories about Brits with crap superpowers, who could be called up by the government’s “DPR” (Department of Paranormal Resources) like jury service when needed.
