The marble tile fills the cover and it’s so bright it draws the eye. But what we’re being drawn to is just an empty room. The staff in the foreground isn’t very interesting, partly because much of it is just a black rod. I don’t even notice that it’s a staff at first; it’s just some diagonal black line on white at first glance.
If this is a fantasy story about elemental magic as the cover and blurb suggest, I’d prefer a more abstract cover where some kind of magic sigil is floating on a black background or vague flame or something. Wouldn’t be great but it’d beat the stark white marble room.
