At least her marker didn’t go dry before she finished.

Yes, this cover is hideous and the author is definitely not a good illustrator, but it’s possible to see her effort to make it and, for some reason, criticizing her in a negative way makes me feel bad. But, well, that’s the risk of publishing a book.

EDIT: Well, as I said, I feel terrible for criticizing the author because, according to the information in her Amazon biography, she’s an eleven years old girl. I must accept that, for her age, she’s a great artist and if she continues practicing she will be very good.

I leave the original comment just to remind myself that I can be needlessly rude sometimes.

Well, any way you look at it, the cover is truth in advertising.

Okay, well, for an 11-y.o. girl–who should NOT be publishing, mind you; that’s what parents are for, to protect children, no matter how precocious, and protect them from “stuff” like this–it’s a great effort.

But, I’m sorry, what the HELL is the Banana of Doom thing?

Her parents really ought to be shot.

Dude, I love ya better’n my luggage, to quote Steel Magnolias, but…it’s a shallot of some kind? The flying onion of death?

It’s a mexican traditional firework; extremely common at Christmas, New Year and Mexican Independence Day. Very popular among kids and Emergency Services.

But, looking again at the cover, I think the White Banana of Doom is the light reflected on the bubbles’ surface, something like this.

AH. Your image isn’t showing, the “like this” thing (?right?), but I see what you mean. LOL, I’m sorry, I really wasn’t being a jerk, I thought it was a BOOMERANG! LOLOL…

I do think that she will do well in the future, and that this is amazing for 11-y.o., but I still think her parents should be shot.

I really think it was a banana the first time I see it (LOL). I also agree with you, her parents need to be taken to the paredĂłn

I think that The Flying Banana of Doom needs to enter the LBC lexicon, officially. We could use it as a tag to describe mysterious flying objects that cannot be identified on the covers. Ohhhhh, Nathan, dear!?

Dude. (Sigh). Fine, fine, but I’m probably not gonna let it go by without using it. Buzzkiller.

I think the “banana” on the bubble things is a relection of light but ought to be curved out not in.
(But mainly I replied to see what it would look like at this indent level,)

Well, y’know, 11y.o. But, nonetheless, The Flying Banana of Doom will live on forever! Despite Nathan’s efforts to smush it! #TFBOD_Lives! 🙂

Yes, I agree now. They’re meant to indicate curvature/reflections.
