New Covers For Old 2019, Day XIX

It’s stunning how many of these “redesigns” are more like re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Oh, in this batch, Maddie is the definite winner. Absolutely the WORST.

Oh, come on. It went from an incomprehensible piece of modern art to an incomprehensible piece of modern art where the author’s name is completely unreadable, thus giving Edward Drobinski plausible deniability when someone asks him if this abomination is actually his book. Have to think that’s an improvement from his perspective.

These inspire some song lyrics from me:

Still no good!
Still no good!
Still no good!
Cover’s still no good…
(And you know it!)

Feeling better, now that it’s through,
Feeling better ‘cuz that cover blew,
You learned your lesson, your art was bizarre,
and now that crap-py cover is better by far!
it’s no good, it’s no good, it’s no good,
author, it’s no good.

And lemme say it again!
(with thanks to RK, who started this…)

I thought the nephilm one was a major improvement

I agree–the Nephilim one, aside from the rather, uh, Twee title, is a MAJOR improvement. No argument. (Am I the only one wondering if that title is missing a comma?)

The nephilim one made me go to Amazon and look it up because YES PLEASE THAT IS RIGHT IN MY WHEELHOUSE, so it did its job. I think the cover designer left off the colon for the second iteration.

Unfortunately, he lost me with the Look Inside. I really do not need to know the brand of everything this dude is wearing. Twice.

Really. I don’t.

8 Sleepless Nights and Lights Over the Bog are using the same image on their new and improved covers…?
