There are so many many many questions about this cover. But the biggest one is why you s there an abridged version at all.
My favourite bit is the all-caps-Old-English set vertically down the left hand side: two readability no-nos combined into one! Plus, not quite aligned, to boot.
BTW, I do own something with a cover containing a version of that optical illusion pattern … it’s an old issue of Scientific American Reports.
