BLURB: The Void Threatens (People of Vapor Book 1)

The Void Threatens is a dark and philosophical tale of epic proportions, done in a creative and entertaining way that promises to keep you coming back for more. It’s the result of combining the existentialism of Friedrich Nietzsche and Søren Kierkegaard with the classic high fantasy of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Impossible cities flourish in this world, and violent racism thrives and fuels a slavery industry that plagues the land. When a mysterious race of beings threaten the entire world, flawed and authentic people are forced to rise up and challenge these godlike foes. At its core, The Void Threatens is a tale of overcoming evil both on the outside and within. The void threatens everyone; will anybody be able to stave off the evil in this fallen world?

And I still feel like I’ve been told nothing.

Sometimes a sentence starts promisingly, then trips over its own shoelaces. “The Void Threatens is a dark and philosophical tale of epic proportions—” … coo, tell me more … “, done—” oh gosh darn it, epic tales aren’t done, they’re told. “Let me do you a story,” said nobody ever.

I wouldn’t read it if it said “told,” either. I intensely dislike being told how I’m going to “come back for more,” or anything like that. It’s like being Authorsplained, to the reader. No, thanks.

I have a feeling that fans of Nietzsche, Kierkegaard and Tolkien are going to be sorely disappointed.
