Couldn’t they at the very least have found more traditional christmas decorations? Glittery things and fairy lights don’t particularly strike me as Victorian. The tree just about gets a pass because I can’t tell if it is real or synthetic, and they were introduced to the UK in the 1830s.
Not that changung the decorations would improve the cover—that’s beyond saving—but some nod towards historical accuracy when marketing historical fiction would at least make it look like some effort went into it.
