LOL, kinda the point. Listen, as much as I’d like to snark, I have to confess that I’ve done something similar, when a client comes to me with an image that is low on size/rez, and isn’t moveable off that particular image. Sometimes, ya gotta do what you gotta do.
HOWEVER, a good solid font choice could have lifted this cover into the realm of good design, from “also-ran somewhat salvaged.”
I like it. Should fill more of the cover, though!

Exactly. Even if they had simply moved the title up and byline down to fill out the excess black it would have looked better.
